FSO ABU
FSO Abu was located 200km from the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia at block PM-8 (Abu Cluster field). The field is operated by PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd and the facilities consisted of a Satellite Platform, Abu A, and the FSO.
Conversion of the tanker “MT Armata” was completed and towed offshore on 27 February 2007. The FSO was installed at location on 3 March 2007 about 2km northwest of Abu-A platform. First oil was achieved in May 2007.
The FSO was turret moored at a water depth of 60 meters. She had 11 cargo oil tanks with a maximum capacity of 95,789 m³ (two designated as production tanks) and two slops tanks of 5,600 m³. The FSO was equipped with a facility to tandem moor offtake tankers at her stern. Her designed loading rate was 30,000 bbl/day, and offloading rate was 20,000 bbl/hr. The FSO was designed to accommodate tankers of between 60,000 and 150,000 SDWT.
FSO ABU was demobilised in September 2016 after 9 years at site. We are proud to have been the chosen O&M operator for the FSO ABU from pre-operations work at the conversion yard and O&M for the entire duration of service from 2007 to 2016 including the demobilisation work for the FSO in 2016.
During the O&M phase, the FSO was operated at an average uptime in excess of 99% with zero Lost Time Injuries recorded during its entire service period of approximately 4.9 million manhours.
